School Improvements Week
Submitted by Amazon Communit... on Thu, 15/04/2010 - 23:13YouVolunteer enjoyed a successful week and a half with Carpe Diem Education who worked with us in various schools on our Amazon Community Development project. We worked in three schools including Esfuerzo, Km 22 and Km 35 and worked on a range of projects including agricultural, painting and construction. Since Carpe Diem was the first large group we’ve attempted to accommodate in the volunteer house it served as a great learning experience for us and there couldn’t have been a better, more positive group, to serve as our pilot project.
Our current vehicle is over 30 years old, and has served us well over the last few years, but its life is coming to an end. We urgently need a new vehicle to help us get to the schools and function properly as a project.

Second tri-mester exams are now complete! We relax and celebrate Semana Santa (East week) with the locals- Cooking class tomorrow!

Teaching Appreciation Day was well spent! Now back to administering exams!

We have pancake day, South America has carnival (Made famous by Rio de Janeiro). Lasts all week with parades through the streets of Puyo

We are busy making flashcard with the vocab in our curriculums to be used at the schools.
