- Nick Greatrex
- Volunteer Coordinator and Director (English)
- Having volunteered in South and Central America, Nico was inspired to set up Great Aves and the Arajuno Road Project whilst volunteering in the Santa Martha Animal Rescue Centre in Ecuador. Aside from his time traveling and volunteering, Nico lives in England, and studied Sociology at the University of Sheffield. He created the Arajuno Road Project to offer a more structured and rewarding volunteer experience, giving greater benefits to both the volunteers and the communities in which they work. Nico is the director of Great Aves and oversees the administration and running of the organisation from the UK and is involved with the development of the projects and the creation of new projects.
- Gloudina Greenacre
- Wayra Urku, Volunteer Coordinator (English/Spanish)
- Originally from South Africa, Gloudina first came to Ecuador from Spain in 2003 to work as a veterinary assistant, working with both domestic and wild animals. During this time Gloudina was introduced to the Santa Martha Animal Rescue Centre. She began working as a coordinator at their centre in Tambillo, and in 2006 she moved to Puyo to run their Flor de la Amazonia centre. A change in licensing laws in Ecuador meant that the centre needed to apply for its own patent to care for animals, which led to the centre opening as an independent centre, the Wayra Urku Animal Rescue Centre.
