Time has come to tell you all about what happened at the Arajuno Road Project in November.
The month started with farewells to many of the volunteers we’ve welcomed in the last weeks and who brought many new perspectives to the project. We also said goodbye to Anna, our coordinator, who did a great job in handling the class preparations for three months. I want to take this opportunity to thank her again for her wonderful work. Thereby we also welcomed new coordinator Carlos and some few new volunteers, who enjoy being in the rainforest and whom the children already locked into their hearts!
We also had a change with the schools. As El Triunfo got an English teacher, we decided to go to a school that needs our help a little bit more. That’s why we are teaching now in a little village called 10 de Agosto. The children are great and lost their shyness very quickly. The other teachers are very open and help us in every way they can.
Furthermore, November gave the volunteers the opportunity to see the children also outside the class rooms. We’ve visited a big celebration in El Triunfo with a great parade going on. All schools participated and the pupils showed us with great proud many dances they prepared for this special event. Another time, all children participated in a big sport event. Kids from the school of km35 won two medals!
It has also been an exciting month for the animals as they all went to Puyo for a check up at the vets. What an adventure! They got their vaccinations and were more than happy when we returned to the house, where they can enjoy their freedom again.
When it comes to the house, it is always nice to see how the atmosphere
changes: At one time you have a lot of volunteers with always something
going on. At other times just a few people make the house more calm and
laid back. The best part of it is that both situations offer different
perspectives of living in the jungle. And if you’re lucky enough, you
experience both of it.
Last, but not least, I am happy to announce that the road construction
until El Triunfo is finished and that the part to our house gets better
every day. Julian the car appreciates it a lot!
Talk to you soon again!
