Our First Evening Class

In my forth week here in the jungle we started evening classes, teaching English to the adults in the community. Well, the classes were for adults but in the first lesson I saw many familiar faces from the school.

Seeing the children around their parents was quite an experience, especially little Bladi who turned from the military leader we are all convinced he will one day be, to a mummy´s boy!

After the first lesson it became clear that different levels of ability are a problem in the class; the children know a fair bit from the volunteers at school, as do some of the teenagers, and the adults know very basic words or nothing. We have decided to split the class in the future by ability and hopefully this will make it better for all involved. It has been great to be involved with both the school and the evening classes, especially in terms of getting to know the community.
It will be difficult to leave next week!
